The Titanic Exhibition
The Titanic Exhibition
This exhibition is in the Luxor hotel. I think its a travelling exhibit, which means it travels from place to place. Since I’m into the history thing, I thought that this exhibition would enlighten me about the tragedy of the titanic. Getting tickets to this exhibition was ridiculous. The box office sold tickets from all shows and exhibitions from the Luxor, so we had to wait in a long line. After waiting for a ½ hour and paying $50, we get to the entrance of the titanic exhibition. We take a picture before we enter, as we all know your picture will show up at the end and will cost $25. This exhibition is a self guided tour, but the man in the front informs us that we are NOT allowed to take pictures, NOT allowed to touch mostly everything, and will NOT see a movie. There is no excitement in the exhibit, so I tried to get myself interested. I ask myself the questions, “Who was the one responsible for looking for icebergs?” and “how cold was the water?” Both questions were answered. First the boy watching for the iceberg missed it. The tour audio said that seeing an iceberg should be simple because the moonlight should make an iceberg visible. But the audio I listened to also gave the excuse that visibility was poor that night. I think the boy fell asleep and that is why “visibility was poor that night”. Second, the only thing we could touch in the exhibit was the big ice block which simulated how cold it was that night. The ice block was extremely cold and put into perspective what people had to go through that night. The rest of the exhibition was short and the only thing worth value was the stories on the big posters. They had parts of the boat which wasn’t too interesting and audio reenactment of some of the events which was boring.
