Cologne

August 17, 2019

We planned our road trip to Amsterdam, but to break up the drive, we took a pit stop to the city of Cologne or Köln (Cone) as the German say. The reason why I chose Cologne was this big ass church said to be the tallest in Germany. I didn't want to go in, I just wanted to see it.

The drive to Cologne was 2.5 hours. I drove us there rather quickly. We left at 8am and by 10:30am we were parked and ready to adventure. Malia's goal was the chocolate (schokolate) factory. The cost to go in was around €40. I was thinking that was expensive. However, when we got there, the cafe and gift shop was open. We convinced Malia to just eat at the cafe and I would get her anything she wanted. Hot chocolates for all, a cappuccino for me and chocolate souffle. All was outstanding especially my cappuccino which was the best I've ever drank. After the museum, we went to the church.

It took us a 12 minute walk to the cathedral which I thought took a little while. The cathedral is Gothic and a UNESCO world heritage site. It does not disappoint, it is huge. I mean you can't fit it in your camera that's how huge it was. According to Wikipedia it took almost 600 years to built. There was a long break in between. There were choke people visiting the cathedral, it was packed. It is a beauty. The bad part was that they were doing construction, so the picture looks like an eye sore.

I was preoccupied about our parking, our ticket was set to run out and we rushed back. But our car was good. It was off to Amsterdam. If we are in the area again, I wouldn't mind going back to Cologne.
