Hoomaluhia Fishing
Fishing - December 27, 2015
Post Christmas parties, Jared wanted to go fishing on Saturday. It rained all day and so we stayed home. Today was supposed to be another rainy day, but with the sun out, we took advantage.
I did an Aiea Loop trail run and went home to tell the family that we were going fishing. We got ready and headed off to Kaneohe. We went fishing here a few years ago. They have a good catch and release program. I checked in to get the poles. We started the 10 minute muddy hike down to the lake.
After setting up shop, the kids started fishing. Best thing for the bait is to ball up a bread into a small piece. The water was brown from yesterdays rain and it was hard to see. Jared caught the first fish, and then Malia caught one. The group next to us was catching everything. After they left, we took their spot and caught more fish. It rained off and on and I was paranoid about everyone getting sick. But we had our umbrellas to shelter the rain.
Jared caught 3 fish, Malia 2, Michelle 2, and I caught 0. It was a fun day. I was so happy for the family. We wanted to eat after and the best place albiet 17 minutes away is the Waiahole Poi Factory. We ate the combo plate and bought another Kalua Pig plate. OMG! It was the best plate lunch I ever had there. Simply Amazing!!!
