Tegelberg

Tegelberg |September 5, 2020

Today was going to be a jam packed day. We aren't detailed planners, but when we choose an excursion, it usually takes all day. Today was going to take all day.

We drove to a place nearby our hotel called Tegelberg. It is the peak that overlooks Schwangau. I believe you can hike to the top, but we weren't going to do that. Instead we wanted to catch the Tegelbergbahn (the lift) up. Parking was a bitch, but it didn't have to be. People were parking far away from the entrance so we just followed suit. But there was plenty of parking spaces in the front. The tickets for the Tegelbergbahn was €56, there was also a toboggan run which was about €20. First we were going to wait in line for the Tegelbergbahn, but decided to get instant gratification and do the tobaggan run. There was no line and we were riding down the slope in no time. The tobaggan run was fun, albeit very short about 3 minutes. Jared had a lot of fun and wanted to do it again. Next we waited for the Tegelbergbahn. The line was much longer this time around and it wasn't moving. The Germans were talking. Apparently someone needed to get rescued at the top which caused a delay. We had to wait in line for at least an hour before we got to go up.

We got up to the top and a restaurant greeted us. Malia was hungry, so we got some alcoholic drinks and some french fries. The french fries cost €10 which was ridiculous. Michelle and I had a nice drink together. Jared and I took a nice picture. After our meal I was a little drunk. We did some light hiking and got to see a perfect view of Schwangau. No wonder why Bavarian kings loved the area, it definitely is a paradise with the mountains, lakes, sweeping vistas, and more.

The trip to Tegelberg took most of the day. But we weren't finish yet.
