Germany 2019
Ah! Germany! Why make this move 7500 miles away from your home in Hawaii? Well there are 3 reasons
1. See Europe
2. Change
3. Our kids will progress
See Europe - I see people brag that they got a good deal on a European vacation. That's good and all, but to look at the Robin Farr template. Quick back story Robin who lived in Hawaii and was a teacher just like me, ended up marrying an Englishman. Robin lives in England and is able to get to any place in Europe at any time. That is the template I was thinking about when trying to visit Europe. We can spend $20,000 and get here, spend 3 weeks and go home, but really is that worth it??? Not to me.
Change - There is no question that living in Hawaii is great, but for the foreseeable future it isn't. With no support of local families, people are having to live with their parents to make ends meet. Owning a house in Hawaii is becoming impossible. And with an increase in homelessness, overpopulation, rising cost - living Aloha is declining. What I forecast was a Hawaii that is unrecognizable in the year 2035. A lot of outside billion dollar companies will be running the show, and who suffers, yep - "INEVITABILITY" (~my favorite line in The Matrix)
Our kids will progress - One bad thing about Hawaii is the kids get accustomed to the lifestyle. I taught in Hawaii DOE schools for 12 years and one common thing I saw is that the kids do not improve themselves while living in Hawaii. It is kinda of the same ole thing. Hopefully by moving to Germany, both Malia and Jared will see a world outside of Hawaii. Its funny one of the catch phrases in the DOE is that students will compete in a global world. Now that I'm here in Germany, I chuckle at that statement. For a student who lives in Hawaii to compete in a global world, they would have to go somewhere to learn how to compete in a global world, let say Germany, Japan, Korea.
