Waikiki
Waikiki April 23
With my mom in Australia for the week, my dad hanging out at the Waikele house, no one was going to the Waikiki timeshare. We wanted to go, but with the Mililani house still in need of clean up and home improvements, it was a hard decision to make.
But who would pass up a chance to hangout in Waikiki for the weekend! All the sites within a short drive away. We planned our weekend to get a lot of priority stuff done first, then set aside some time to hang out at the timeshare.
I wanted to go to the Waikiki timeshare on Friday, but Michelle's co-worker Amanda was scheduled to do the hardwood floors in the parlor. Michelle also scheduled the cable to come on Saturday morning.
Friday we took care of business and tried to rest. Saturday morning, the cable guy came, did his job and we were off to Waikiki. Mom did the prep work earlier in the week by checking in and getting the keys for us.
When we got to the Aloha Tower timeshare, we were quite surprise as they upgraded the timeshare ~ newly installed everything, remodeled kitchen, bathroom, new floors, etc.
We set up and immediately went to the end of the strip next to Kapiolani Park to hangout at the beach. I wanted to tube, and my wish was my command. The tube had a hole, so it kinda deflated. After some fun, we got jamba juice and headed back to take a nap.
The nap was so good that I had a hard time waking up. The kids wanted to go to the pool. What intrigued me was the grill was open for anyone to use. That was cool!!! A saw a guy put his small potato on the large grill and leave. Dinner was at Red Lobster. We had a gift card from Christmas from Quincy. Red Lobster the restaurant was semi awful. I remember it being so good in the past. This restaurant means a lot to Michelle and I because we celebrated a lot of significant events in our relationships here.
- One of our first dates was here
- We ate here a lot when Michelle was pregnant with Malia
- We ate here a few times with the kids
After my sad ass salmon, but pretty good Walt's shrimp, we wanted dessert at Ala Moana. Malia was in for a surprise as we were to take her to Barnes and Nobles to get her manga books. She was so excited. I soon found out that she read her 3 books in a day. I also bought a booked called, "The Secret".
Ala Moana was closing and it was only 9pm. With everything closed, we drove to Leonard's Bakery to get malasadas. Eating malasadas when you want dessert is top notch. The temperature of the malasada was perfect and dough was cooked well.
We got back to the hotel way past our bedtime at 10:00pm. I was so tired and went to sleep.
Waikiki April 24
Morning came, I woke up so late around 7:30pm. I was fiending for some coffee, so I left and drove to starbucks in Kapahulu. I read my book and drank the coffee so slowly. It was one of the greatest things in life.
Michelle found a good breakfast place at the Hale Koa hotel. The buffet was excellent!!! The one cool part was you can make your own mini waffles. Nothing better than eating a fresh waffle. I ate 5 mini waffles. Their oatmeal bar and fresh fruit bar was good. They had an omelette station and breakfast bar ~ all you can eat bacon, link pork sausage, fried rice, & fish benedict.
After the great buffet, we went to the pool. The pool was rather large and we swam for about 1 hour. After the pool, we went to the beach, so I could play in my tube. We got hungry and went to the beach restaurant.
We ordered onion rings and nachos, for only 12 bucks! It was cheap. The beer is also cheap here, however, I didn't want to drink.
We were so tired, so we headed towards the hotel. I wanted to go to Uncle Tetsu, but that would have to wait till next time. I remember waking up after 3pm. Checkout time was on Monday, but we wanted to leave at 3pm, so we could get home to Mililani and walk Kiwi. Michelle packed us up quickly as she always does.
What a great two days we spent here. I think its clear that we will buy a timeshare in the future. We could travel to places and buy some stuff to cook. That's awesome.
