Ku Noodle

Ku Noodle

We landed at 5:30 pm Vegas time and got to our hotel around 7:00 pm. We knew we were going to be hungry, so earlier in the day before we left Hawaii, we decided to eat dim sum as our first meal in Vegas. The closest quality dim sum place near our hotel was Ku Noodle at the SLS Hotel. It still was going to be a 10 minute walk to get there. Once we checked into the hotel, we threw all our stuff down and got ready to go to Ku Noodle.

Ku Noodle is a small Asian inspired restaurant created by the team of Jose Andres. This guy Jose Andres is a celebrity chef who beat Bobby Flay on Iron Chef. He trained under the great Ferran Adria, owner of the best restaurant in the world for many years, the now closed El Bulli in Spain. Don’t ask me how I know this stuff, I come across information from time to time.

We wanted dim sum. Of course, we can get dim sum on Oahu and great dim sum at that. However, we wanted to try the dim sum here. The dish we ordered was called “Lucky 12”, which consisted of 3 of 4 different types of shumai’s. The highlight was a pork and shrimp shumai with gold flakes on it. Yeah!!! We also got a Hakka Rice Pot that was finished table side. Our server brought a hot pot which made a crust out of the rice and gave a crunchy texture to the dish. The dish was earthy and full of flavor. Finally, we had sake punch. A bunch of Asian fruits with sake. It was a great meal for the first day, bill was $60 including tip, but well worth it.
