Austria 2020

September 6, 2020

The kids needed a break from the travel. They are so used to chillaxing. Michelle and I wanted to seize this opportunity and go to Austria. This was a good chance to visit this part of Austria. Rumor on facebook was that Austria was red for the Coronavirus. But on the Robert Koch website there was no mention of Austria, so we assumed everything was okay.

Before crossing the border we seen a sign that showed going to Austria required a vignette. This sticker is needed when going to certain EU countries. We tried to problem solve quickly, but it wasn't needed because there was a gas station nearby the border. When we walked inside the old lady seemed so happy to see Americans. It was like she wanted to practice her Enlgish. I tried to speak in German, but the lady beat me to the punch and spoke perfect English. She explained to us which country we wanted to go to and how many days we needed the vignette. The minimum number of days is 10 for €10.

There was police presence at the border. They were doing random checks, we were a bit anxious but weren't stopped. Home free we thought. Not so fast. Traffic loomed, lots of traffic getting into Austria. Not sure why, I can't remember exactly, but we needed to stop somewhere, maybe I needed to use the bathroom. In the parking lot, we got distracted by this beautiful view of the lake. Michelle started walking down, I was hesitant.
