Minus 5

Minus 5

Clearly, we were going to Minus 5 Ice Bar. Granted its a novelty, but it was featured on the Travel Channel. Upon our research, there are two ice bars in Vegas 1) Mandalay Bay 2) Monte Carlo. The sequence of the day was going well. After walking in the hot sun for 1 hour to the Vegas sign and back, it would make total sense to go to the ice bar.

We walked in the Mandalay Bay Hotel admiring their garden from the stairway. We had some problems finding the ice bar, but was directed in the right direction by one of the concierge. To get in will cost you some $$$. They have all these package deals, I was cheap and just paid the $80 to get in. Michelle seemed disappointed, if I forked over another $30 we would have upgraded to the higher package which would have gotten us a fur coat (which we would have to give back) and a cool looking hat. But I was cheap. this package I thought was better because we got 2 drinks each. The other package was only 1 drink each. Before entering, you have to put all your stuff away in lockers, you can't even being in your cell phone.

The entire bar is made out of ice, even the cups are made out of ice. There are beautiful carved ice structures all around. It is a small area, not more than 400 square feet . It was empty, I guess since it was so early in the day. We pretty much had the bar to ourselves. There is a bartender who must be cold since it's below freezing inside, she was making cocktails. Their cocktails are good, can't even taste the alcohol. We had our two drinks, took a few pictures and left the novelty.

After exiting, the alcohol hit. I got really red and even Michelle was feeling the effects. I can't remember what we did for a short time after. We may have went back to the hotel to take a nap.
