Jared's Graduation
June 1, 2024
The time has come when Jared our youngest is ready to graduate. Having kids is both stressful and rewarding. It does provide a sense of purpose in life. It gives life meaning. Jared had a rough start to his high school career. His first two years didn't go very well. But when we moved to El Paso, he thrived and earned all A's during his last two years. It really gave him confidence that he could be strong academically. Jared was always smart but he really struggled getting his work completed in class. We put him on Adderall for his ADHD and it seemed to work wonders.
My family flew down from Hawaii and San Francisco to join in the festivities. They arrived on Thursday which was great timing because I finished the school year a day before. For 4 days we tried to catch up and ended up having a great time.
The graduation event was held in the Don Haskins Center on the UTEP campus. I've never been there but thought it would be a chaotic mess. To my surprise it turned out good. Even with 7000 people, it didn't feel to busy. The event was quick only 1.5 hours long. They were efficient.
After the ceremony we drove to the West Texas Chophouse for dinner. The dinner was $500. The meal was average. The steaks were good, but not everything was good.
We hope Jared the best in his future endeavors. He will be going to New Mexico State in Las Cruces in the Fall of 2024.
