Arancino @ Beachwalk

November 23, 2016

For our 14th anniversary Michelle and I chose to go to Arancino Beachwalk. This is probably the least prepared we've been for an anniversary dinner. Last year we went to Chef Mavro which needed reservations. This year we didn't even make reservations.

After a long day of work, we made dinner for the kids and took the long drive to Waikiki. It took over 1 hour to get there. We found Arancino Beachwalk, but needed to find parking. Low and behold, there was a parking garage near the restaurant. We ended up parking there, but it was controlled by one of those apps called Park Mobile.

It took only 5 minutes to register for the app and we were good. Arancino was only a minute walks away. There are 3 Arancino's in the Waikiki area, Beachwalk, Di Madre, and Kahala. They are all said to be good, the Kahala is more expensive. Their signature dish is the uni pasta which yelpers give high reviews.

The wait was only 45 minutes, so Michelle and I went to the Hard Rock Cafe bar to have a drink. That was a great experience. The time passed by quickly. I got the call that a seat opened.

It was raining as we walked back to Arancino Beachwalk. The restaurant is very small, only holds less than 20 seats. There were 2 different course menus and we got one each so we could share. Lots of Japanese tourist in the area, I don't think anyone was local sitting around us.

We both got the same first dish, it was carpaccio di capesante. I don't know what the italian translation is, but it was scallops with fresh onion and greens drizzle with olive oil. It was a great starter, so fresh. Michelle got the sampler for the second dish, while I got a papaya with prosciutto. This too was refreshing

The main entree was the money entree. Michelle got the uni pasta and I got the tako pasta with tobiko. Both we excellent. The uni pasta was so creamy, it was really good. If that was what uni taste like, it is a delicacy. The tako pasta was sweet and had a subtle taste, it wasn't overpowering.

Our last course was ice cream with coffee. I was so full, I felt like throwing up. I had a few beers and Michelle and 2 glasses of wine.

Since we were so full and had 1 1/2 left on our parking meter, we took a walk to the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. We went to the beach and tried to take a selfie. I was drunk already and feeling really good. We had some laughs and enjoyed ourselves. It was so great to have a fun night out.
