Innsbruck
Innsbruck | September 6, 2020
The nearest major city near our Bed & Breakfast in Bavaria was Innsbruck. Innsbruck is located in the Tirol Region. Austria has 8 states, Tirol is one of those states.
The goal wasn't to buy fancy souvenirs in Innstruck, the goal was to eat regional food. I was looking for Tirol food. We found parking right away. That is a rule we figured out in Europe. There are parking structures all over town and instead of looking for a free space or what appears to be something cheap, we just find the best available. Even with the Coronavirus it is a strategy we use. When you try look for the perfect spot, what usually happens is that one will not be available.
After parking, we started walking trying to find city center. For some reason we always stumble upon city center. We look for a sign that says centrum or you can follow the people. We were so hungry from the hike and were getting desperate to eat. We walked up and down city center trying to find a place, finally we found this bar with very good Tirol Regional food on the menu. I was so happy.
Just like Rhineland-Pfalz regional cusine I bought the sampler platter. I'm not going to lie, it was a platter of fat and some bread. Not so good for the body, but hey we are here and I am going to remember this experience, an experience of eating fat.
What made this experience memorable was this old couple. It was raining and this grandpa decided to talk to us in German about the rain falling down on his wife. He was a little drunk and he was having a great time. We just laughed with him. When we left he said bye to us, "guten tag, auf wiedersehen". He was so nice. We really enjoyed it.
It was running late already. We still needed to cross the border and drive home.
