St. Patrick's Day Parade

The mainland’s interpretation of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day is much different than ours. In Hawaii, there is a small parade in Waikiki and the after party is near the Irish Watering Holes in Chinatown.

Here in D.C., they do things on a much grander scale. They have a 3 hour parade in the downtown part of Washington D.C. Although the temperature was in the 30s today, we stayed out there and watched near 1 hour of the parade. Cool experience for the kids. My favorite part of St. Patti’s Day as always are the river dancers and bagpipes. I love that stuff!

On one of the metro stops the day before, we went to a Trader Joe’s. What we saw there was a big time St. Patti’s Day block party. I won’t mention the actions of these people, let’s just say they had a small green cup and they could re-fill their beer at any bar in the area. Just to put a visual in your mind, there appeared to be many bars in that area. Trader Joe’s was awesome! I bought cookie butter for $3.49.
