Solano Family 2018

2018 in Review

January - We started off the New Year going to the Mochi Festival up the road at the Buddhist Temple. We wanted to start the year off with a family event. Being that the kids are older, it is a little hard to do anything as a family. When they were little it was easy to take them out. However, when the get older they tend to want to do their own thing.

February - Superbowl month. We saw Blaze and Jenny for the only time in the year. It was a great Super Bowl game. Also Baron does his Waianae Hikes which what I look forward to at the start of the year.

March - Michelle and I tried Kalalau with the OAG's. But with bad weather, we didn't make it and had to do alternative hikes. This is when I got really into plants

April - This month brought more basic hiking. Malia wanted to go to Spain, so we signed up. Trying to save up was going to be hard. It like $3500 for the trip.

May - End of the school year is a busy month.

June - Summer started. Did a lot of chores. We watched Hina as Daniel went to visit his parents in Utah.

July - Malia went to leadership camp at the start of the month. Jared bought his airsoft gun and practiced shooting targets. Malia wanted to go bowling and we did a few family outings at the Schofield Bowling alley.

August - I started to train for the Maui Marathon in October. The highlight was the run from Ala Moana Beach to Kailua Beach. That run was rough. The boys from Hawaii won the Little League World Series. That was an event that captivated Hawaii.

September - Malia was in full swing with her AP World History course. She did good even though it caused a lot of stress.

October - We went to Maui as a family as I was going to do Marathon #11. We had a good time bonding. We got to know more of each other.

November - Busy month as we a lot to do with work, family, fun.

December - Michelle walked the Honolulu Marathon her 1st and probably last. I was proud of her for accomplishing something difficult.
