Erik & Aprille's Wedding - May 28, 2023

I've known Aprille and Erik for around 11 years now. Come to think of it, I met them on the same day October 3, 2012, not that I keep track of these things.

We've been on at least a hundred of hikes together, some hikes were good, some bad, some epic, some fail, but all in all we enjoy each others company and like to be together. We also used to run together which were also good times.

Aprille and Erik have been dating for around 6 years before they decided to tie the knot. They wanted to have a National Park themed wedding and Aprille did a good job planning. She had a trail mix bar, photo booth, plants as center pieces, etc. It was well thought out. The night was great for us hiker who I guess haven't seen each other for years. It wasn't just me whose been living off island for the past 4 years but apparently no body has seen Baron for a while and many of the hikers haven't been hiking with one another like the good ole days. This event seemed to have brought us together.

This entry is short. I hope Aprille and Erik have a great life together and hopefully I can join them on more hikes.

Waikiki - May 26, 2023

Being away for 4 years, I realize that I really miss Waikiki. The first day I got back to Hawaii, I decided to drive to Waikiki. My mom let me use her car and early in the morning like 5am, I drove to Waikiki. I did my usual routine when going to Waikiki, I parked at Kapiolani Park and did a 2 mile run. I forgot how humid Hawaii was, I broke out into a sweat immediately. I extended the run by running to the Duke Statue and towards the International Marketplace. Waikiki almost looked the exact same when I left it 4 years ago. After my run, I went to go into the water. It was still early in the morning (around 6a), but I needed to feel the ocean water again. After a quick dip, I changed in the bathroom and drove to Foodland Farms to get a Poke Bowl. I miss Poke.  I went to Ala Moana Beach Park to eat and then left. I love the feeling sitting down in front of the beach and eating breakfast. After my Poke Bowl I went to Don Qujiote to shop. I miss the new products that Don Qujote had to offer. Even though it was only a few hours, it brings back so many fun things that I enjoyed while in Hawaii.

Spending time with Dad - May 27, 2023

I came to Hawaii because I really wanted to spend time with my dad. Its been 4 years since I've seen him and I don't know how many years he has left to live. I enjoy our early morning conversations (like 3am). I was still on Texas time and my dad just wakes up that early. We talked about stocks, baseball, amongst other things. These conversations I wish upon my own children. I really have to do a better job with raising them. On this day May 27 we had a BBQ which I always enjoy cooking a good steak.  We talked a lot of story. I bought a new Maui Brewing Beer called Da Hawaii Life which is limited edition.

Food of Hawaii May 27, 2023

I really missed Laulau. I asked the OAGs to take me to the Waiahole Poi Factory so I could get some Laulau. We did some sightseeing at Hoomaluhia and after we drove to the Waiahole Poi Factory. The place was busy, it was packed with tourist from a tour bus. We waited patiently in line. I couldn't wait until we ate Laulau. As a bonus I got poi too. I was surprise at how fast the line went. After we got our food, we walked to the cars and found a nice space to eat.

I think if I was on my death bed, I would ask for Laulau from the Waiahole Poi Factory for sure.
