Vegas 2015
Purpose: Quality Time Trip
Where: Las Vegas
February 11-16 (Valentine's Day Weekend)
WE'RE BACK!!! Five years in the making. I know its common for people from Hawaii go to Vegas twice a year, my parents do and I'm sure a lot of other people do to. However, since we had kids, couple trips don't happen to us very often. Add that to the fact that everything is so damn expensive in Hawaii, money is scarce. So when we chose to come to Vegas, we goin' make it happen! For sure.
Last time we were here, it was the time of our lives. That was 2009. But things were left unfinished. We only did half of the Vegas Strip (bottom section) and so this time the goal was to complete the entire strip. Not only did we want to finish the upper half of the strip, we wanted lots of good quality food. We wanted to eat well, very well. We were suppose to spend time with our friends Jenny, Blaze, Erik, and the rest, but that was going to be difficult because they were staying in Downtown Vegas and we were staying on The Strip.
Both Michelle and I spent months planning this trip. We downloaded all the Vegas apps and did hours and hours research. We honestly looked through each menu of all the Vegas hotels on the strip, trying to figure out what was interesting, good, and worth going for.
To give us an advantage, we needed to stay on the strip. Most people in Hawaii stay in Downtown Vegas, which is okay, but you'd need to wait for the shuttle to take you to the strip or need to catch the bus down to the strip. We figured that would be a waste of time. We also considered a car, but that would be a waste of money since we would only be driving less that 20 miles per day. The Vegas bus system and monorail caters towards tourist, so it would suffice our need for the time being.
Las Vegas Baby!
Since we needed to do the upper half of the strip, Michelle found a great deal at Circus Circus. There were pros and cons, but it made a lot of sense at the time. We paid $1,285 for the flight and hotel which was cheaper than the $1,500 Vacation's Hawaii deal. We wouldn't be getting the vouchers for the buffets which the Vacation's Hawaii deal offers. But that was okay, since we were focused on eating quality meals.
The plan was to split the strip into 4 sections. Each day, we would tackle each section. The plan was also flexible and we could tweak it to cater our very needs or our spontaneous decisions.
