Cafe in Paris
February 16, 2020
We had some time before the Lourve, so we decided to stop by this small cafe called Cafe la Colonnade Paris. I think Malia wanted a Crepe, but it ended turning into a big meal.
When going to a new restaurant, I play it safe and always order their special or their signature dish. Their special of the day was a ham croissant sandwich with french fries and salad. Michelle ordered the French onion soup. Malia ordered a Ceasar salad and a crepe. Jared ordered a French omelette. I also got some Merlot.
Jared's omelette was done French Style, so it was runny, he didn't like it. We traded my sandwich for his omelette. My croissant was amazing, Jared ended up eating the rest of it. Michelle soup was good, but needed more salt. Malia Cesear salad was to die for. It was so good, but she didn't want to eat it all because she wanted room for her crepe. Michelle and I ended up eating her salad. The best part was this mustard dressing on my salad. If I could replicate that, I would be eating salad every day. For dessert Michelle bought a peach custard cake, which I thought was amazing.
I thought the meal was outstanding. I don't think Michelle and Jared thought the same way. After the restaurant I looked up their reviews, they had solid reviews and their service was good.
The French get a bad reputation for being rude. We've been to France at least 6x already and all of my interactions with the French have been positive. Yes the French socialize more than maybe other European cultures.
The French also have good manners. Every interaction I've had has always started with bonjour and ended with au revior. Everyone from the bus driver, lady at the bakery, cashier at the supermarket, waitress at the cafe. It has been a wonderful experience so far.
