The $20 Bill
The 20 dollar bill
Since we are not high rollers, we figured out that a gambling budget should be considered on our trip to Vegas. However, Michelle and I weren’t sure what a gambling budget was. As we gambled, we made a critical observation. We figured that $20 was the perfect amount at one machine. With $20, you’re not too high or too low. It gives you enough credits and enough opportunities to win. Now if you gamble at 10 machines, it would cost you $200 and make you broke. But conventional wisdom says that if you're not a high roller, you’ll stop anywhere between $60-$100. And that is the truth. Because a machine has no feelings, it does not feel sorry if you don’t win. If you haven’t figured it out already, the premise is simple - hot machines will give you money, and cold machines will take your money. If you think a cold machine will hit, you’re just fooling yourself. The casinos understand the human psychology of hope.
