El Paso, Texas
June 2022
We are finally here in El Paso. All I know is that we are one crazy family. Who would move from Hawaii to Germany with only $250 in their bank account? Who would move from Germany to El Paso when we don't know anyone here. Only a crazy family would do that. To do this we rely 100% on ourselves, trust no one, get a job and save up money. That is our mantra from the moment we decided to leave Hawaii and it has worked for the most part.
My first impressions of El Paso is bittersweet. For one I thought it would be cheaper here than Hawaii. In some aspects it is, but not much. The bills here are similar to Hawaii, although rent and electricity is cheaper, but we have to pay for gas so that cancels that out. Food here is a bit cheaper than Hawaii, but not by that much. We found Food King which is similar to a Tamuras in Hawaii. People are very nice here and I heard that coming in. There is not much crime here either. El Paso is consistently rated as one of the safest cities in America. I really want to buy a house here before the market booms. It is starting to boom and many houses have seen a +$50,000 increases within the past year. Saving money and buying a house is very important to me. Hopefully we will be able to do it.
