Spartan Event - August 5, 2017
During the summer I stumbled upon the Spartan webpage. I asked Jared if he thought it was a good idea to do the event. He seemed excited. I asked him to start to train for the event. He did for about a day or two, but decided to enjoy his summer.
On the day of the event, we parked at Kualoa. I thought far away yeah! Boy it was. We had to walk 1.5 miles to the registration tent. It was ridiculous. Michelle had a nasty blister on the walk.
Registration was also ridiculous. Out of the 10 stations, only 2 were for the kids event. It took 15 minutes to register. After that, it became smooth sailing.
The course had around 10 obstacles. It was about 1 mile long. There were about 25 kids in Jared's heat. After the second obstacle the tire pull. Jared was tired already. He was in trouble. It was only 5 minutes into the race. The hardest part of the course was coming up. The sand bag carry and stone carry. A lot of the kids had trouble. I think bags and stones were too heavy.
It took Jared 30 minutes to finish the first loop. He was full on exhausted when doing the second loop. I walked with him encouraging him to do his best.
When he finished, he looked beat. Instead of walking back to the car, Michelle and Jared walked down the road while I walked back. It took me about 15 minutes to walk back. I was sweating like crazy.
Jared seemed proud that he finished the event. He said he wants to do it every other year.
